About Us

At the heart of our mission lies the commitment to replant and rebuild Lahaina. Our purpose is to foster sustainable regeneration—enriching both the environment and the community that calls this land home. We invite you to join us in this meaningful pursuit, as we unite under a shared vision of revitalization and nurturance that will echo through generations. Together, we are not just planting seeds in the soil, but also sowing the seeds of hope, growth, and sustainability for the entire Lahaina community.

Meet Jeremy, aka “Romes”

BOD President

Jeremy DelosReyes, deeply rooted in Lahaina, has dedicated his life to uplifting his community and preserving Hawaii's cherished culture and environment. A proud graduate of Lahainaluna High School and the University of Hawaii, where he earned a bachelor's degree in education, Jeremy began his career as a high school carpentry and construction teacher. Over the past 22 years, he has tirelessly worked to provide educational opportunities for Lahaina's youth, always advocating for his community and safeguarding Hawaii’s natural resources and traditional practices.

Jeremy's influence extends beyond the classroom. He has been actively involved in community activities, serving as a youth and high school soccer coach, president and head coach of local canoe clubs, a jiu-jitsu instructor, and a canoe builder. His passion for woodworking, kindled during high school, led him to a career in construction. Following the devastating Lahaina fire, Jeremy has committed to helping homeowners rebuild affordably.

Witnessing the dramatic transformation of West Maui’s lush landscapes into arid terrain after the sugar industry shutdown, Jeremy was motivated to initiate change. This led to the founding of Kaiāulu Initiatives, aiming to rejuvenate the landscape and restore the depleted aquifer.

Meet Riley

BOD Member

Aloha, I’m Riley Bond, a mom of two from Lahaina and a proud Lahainaluna graduate. With a background in early childhood education and social work, I’ve seen how many of the social issues we face are tied to our disconnection from the land and prioritizing profit over people.
In my free time, I love making lei, camping, and taking care of my family. I currently work helping Lahaina homeowners navigate the rebuild, so getting away and connecting with my community up Mauka is essential for my well-being in this post-fire climate. Being part of Kaiāulu Initiatives lets me give back to the land and community that mean so much to me. It’s all about reciprocity—taking care of the ‘āina and each other.

Meet Jordan

BOD Member

Aloha! ‘O wai ‘o Jordan Ruidas ko’u inoa. My name is Jordan Ruidas and I am a born and raised Lahaina girl. I am a proud graduate of the historic Lahainaluna High School. I am a mother to 3 keiki and they are what drive me in everything I do. I want to make sure that I am doing my part to create a place where the next generation can thrive. I love all things ‘āina, wai, and kaiāulu.

Meet Kristen

Aloha, my name is Kristen.  I am a teacher at King Kamehameha III Elementary School, in Lahaina.  Surrounding myself with the community and those who are also passionate about rebuilding Lahaina’s landscape to what it once was has strengthened my connection in countless ways.  I am truly honored to be a part of such an amazing organization; and, I look forward to seeing the growth that future generations will benefit from.
